Prevent Awareness Initial Training Course

The UK government has recently placed a legal duty on schools to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism.

In order to fulfil this legal duty schools must understand what is expected of them. They must be aware of the practical steps that they can take to implement effective safeguarding systems and must develop a good understanding of the nature of these rapidly evolving issues.

We offer training that covers the key points of the Prevent Duty, Channel Duty and schools requirements under the Counter Terrorism & Security Act 2015.

Also included is a consultation on how to create a risk assessment that covers all the key elements of Prevent.

Training will incorporate:

  • Prevent Duty training for up to 30 participants.
  • Materials and resources, including certificates for attendance on half-day course if required.
  • Signposting to websites and Home Office documentation that will assist with your staff’s development and learning.
  • Phone support
  • Strategy document for SMT
  • Risk Assessment & Action Plan support/development

The training is delivered didactically with the use of PowerPoint and some video clips. The session usually runs for 3 hours, which includes a coffee break. We try and bring our training to life using real life case studies; some of the cases are local cases that we have worked on.
