Developing Governance

This course is designed for school governors who have been in post for a period of time and who would like to develop their skills further. The course is designed to challenge the critical thinking skills of governors and to explore in more depth the knowledge and skills needed to undertake the role of school governors and board member.

Subjects include;

• Challenging conversations
• Responsibilities to the Head Teacher
• Handling allegations/complaints
• Understanding panel work
• Identifying strategic and operational roles
• Data considerations
• Evaluating the board
• Performance management considerations
• Financial questions for the School Business Manager
